It was the first of two nights of racing for the 42nd Annual Winter Nationals James McElreath Memorial Race at the historic Devils Bowl Speedway. It was a beautiful evening and a good crowd was on hand to watch some exciting racing. In the ASCS Sprint 25-lap qualifier, Wayne Johnson, No. 77x, took the early lead and went on to take the top spot in the A-qualifier. Joe Wood Jr., No. 11, had a strong run, but settled for second, Matt Covington, No. 95, was third, John Carney II, No. 74b, was fourth, and Blake Hahn, No. 52, was fifth. Bergman, Ramey, Reutzel, Baughman, and Hagar, rounded out the top ten. The first four positions are locked into Saturday nights feature. Twenty-four cars started the feature.

USA Modified Feature Winner: Clyde Dunn Jr., No. 88xxx, was the run-a-way winner in fifteen-lap feature. Patrik Daniel, No. 75, was second, Michael Daniels, No. 711, was third, Chase Allen, CAM Chassis, No. 30, was fourth and Chris Huckeba, No. 2c, was fifth. Ewell, Taylor, Shipp, McMackin, and Howell, rounded out the top ten. Twenty-two cars started the feature.

Factory Stock Feature Winner: Mike Smith, No. 21m, won a close one. Bo Day, No. 4, was second, Tommy Davis Jr., No. 71m, was third, T. Ray Burkett, No. 333, was fourth and Tom Earl, was fifth. Boatman, Jensen, Chennanlt, Ashcraft, and Simpkins, rounded out the top ten. Twenty-one cars started the twelve-lap feature. Steven Hardy, No. 15, was DQ'd.

Wing Modified Feature Winner: Thomas Burge, No. 10b, was the feature winner. Doug Ingalls, No. 99, was second, Kody Adams, No. 8a, was third, Dustin Mooney, No. 05, was fourth and Brother Fowlkes, No. 12, was fifth. Adrian, McCommas, Keimig, Flanagan, and Golden, rounded out the top ten. Twenty-three cars started the feature. A record twenty-eight Wing Mods were in the pits.
Veteran Doug Ingalls had a strong run to place second.
Nick Cooper was involved in a wreck doing the feature.
