It was qualifying night for the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV Motorsports Network at the Devils Bowl Speedway's 43rd Annual Winter Nationals. The Devils Bowl Speedway racing family is honoring former owner/promoter Lanny Edwards who passed away recently. They are asking race fans to wear red Saturday night in honor of him. Friday nights program featured four classes of cars. In the ASCS qualifying feature, a good field of forty-seven Sprints, attempted to lock in the top four positions for Saturday nights $3,000 to win finale. Johnny Herrera, No. 45x, who currently is in second place in the ASCS National point standing, managed to hold off the field, even with a serious engine problem, to take the top qualifying spot. Johnny said, "the only way I'm pulling off is if she blows up." Aaron Reutzel, No. 87, was second, John Carney, No. 11x, was third, Sammy Swindell, No. 3s, was fourth. Those are your top four qualifiers that are locked into Saturday's finale. Covington, Hahn, Jennings, Rilat, Johnson, and Lawrence, rounded out the top ten positions. Twenty-four cars started the feature.
Aaron Reutzel had a solid second place finish.
John Carney picked up a third place finish.
Current points leader Sam Hafertepe Jr. finished eleventh.
Martin Edwards, APCO No. 13, honored his grandfather.
Please wear red Saturday in honor of Lanny Edwards.

USA Modified Feature Winner: Charlie Smith, No. 3c, ran off with the $1,000 feature win. Jack Sartain, No. 47, had a good run for second, Jasen Hammond, No. 74, was third, Clyde Dunn Jr., No. 88xxx, was fourth and Johnny Philpot Jr., No. 12j, was fifth. Twenty-one cars started the feature.

Factory Stock Feature Winner: Day Motorsports was the big winner in the Factory Stock feature. Bo Day, No. 4, took the $700 to win feature. Jimmy Day, No. 23m, was second, Mike Smith, No. 21m, was third, Joe Miller, No. j23, was fourth and Jamey Lough, No. 39, was fifth. Eighteen cars started the feature.

Wing Modified Feature Winner: Alan Myers, No. v8, was the feature winner. Former Devils Bowl Speedway Champion, Gary Wright, No. 2, was a solid second, Dustin Mooney, No. 45, was third, Kodey Keimig, No. 7, was fourth and Dale Wester, No. 12, was fifth. Eighteen cars started the feature.
