Kennedale Speedway Park held their final night of racing for their Annual Spring Kickoff. It turned out to be a fantastic evening for racing. Oklahoma's William Gould, No. 60, held off Chris Brag, No. 24b, for the Modified feature win. Waco's Eric Tomlinson, No. 45t, was third, John Gober, No. 52, was fourth and Kevin Sustaire, No. 71k, was fifth. Guillaume, Bransom, McCoy, McMillan, and Earl Jr., rounded out the top ten. A full field of twenty-six cars started the feature.

SportMod Feature Winner: Jeffrey Abbey, No. 37, held off Jon White Jr., No. 8j, to take the win. Greg Frazer, No. 662f, was third, T.J. Green, No. 5x, was fourth and Cory Williams, No. 511, was fifth. Nabors, IIich, Welborn, Kahanek, and Carter, rounded out the top ten. Twenty-four cars started the feature.

Stock Car Feature Winner: Kirk Martin, No. 69, was the feature winner. Westin Abbey, No. 12, was second, Flyin Ryan Powers, No. r12, was third, Jay Bransom, No. 29, was fourth and Randy Killen, No. 81x, was fifth. Jones, Orebaugh, McCullough, Garcia, and T. Killen, rounded out the top ten. Twenty-three cars started the feature.

Factory Stock Feature Winner: Bo Day, No. 4, held off a strong field to take the win. Duane Wolff, No. 10, came in a close second, Randy Buttery, No. 06, was third, Ricky Sessions, No. 7, was fourth and Mike Shackleford, No. 09, was fifth. Cook, Lyles, Metre, Morris, and Grogg, rounded out the top ten. Twenty-four cars started the feature.

Jr. Mini Stock Feature Winner: Blake Clark, No. 88, was the winner. Casey Merrell, No. 41, was second, Patrick Bailey, No. 5x, was third, Jerrett Bransom, No. 29, was fourth and Danner Shipman, was fifth. Brunson, Mustard, Lackey, Morgan and R. Shipman, rounded out the top ten.

Patrick Bailey had a strong run to finish third.

Kennedale Speedway Park kicked off their Annual Spring Kickoff Saturday night. A large car count was on hand and they put on a great show for the racing fans who packed the stands. Jay Bransom, No. 29, had a good night by taking the IMCA Modified feature and the IMCA Stock Car feature. John Gober, No. 52, had a strong run to finish second in the Modified feature, Anthony Roth, No. 60iv, was third, Kevin Green, was fourth and Eric Tomlinson, No.45t, was fifth. Campbell, Bragg, Gould, Sustainer, and Melton rounded out the top ten. A full field of twenty-four cars started the feature.

David Cook took a nasty flip on the front straight-a-way.

RaceSaver Sprint Feature Winner: "The Rocket" John Ricketts, No. 5r, took the Sprint win. Logan Payne, No. 2, was second, Kyle Jones, No. 04, was third, George White, No. 10, was fourth and Marcus Thomas, No. 15t, was fifth. C. Estes, Wilson, Vetter, Williams, and L. Scherb, rounded out the top ten. Twenty-five cars started the feature.

Brandon Brown beats Casey Lyles at the wire for Smackdown victory at 85 Speedway

February 20 (Saturday)

85 Speedway held their first Annual Smackdown Saturday night in Ennis. There was a good crowd and great car count that competed for cash, belts and bragging rights. Over 70 Factory Stocks battled it out for the twenty-four starting positions in the 40-lap A-main. That made for some great racing, but also for a very long night. In the Factory Stock feature, Brandon Brown, No. 32, held off Casey Lyles, No. 27, at the finish line to take the $2,500 feature. Taylor Carver, No. 40, was third, Chris Davis, No. 98, had a strong run to take fourth and Mike Smith, No. 21m, was fifth. Earl Sr., Morosky, Waters, L. Carter, and Dolezalik, rounded out the top ten. Twenty-four cars started the feature.

Taylor Carver, No. 40, had a strong run to finish third. 

Jason Cook was one of over seventy Factory Stocks in the pits.

Modified Feature Winner: Kevin Sustaire, No. 871k, had a big night. Kevin won both the Modified and Sportmod features. Oklahoma's William Gould, No. 60, was second, Destroyer Chassis Darryl Campbell, No. 83, was third, Michael Ables, No. 61, was fourth and Erik Miles, No. 65, was fifth. Shoptaw, Johannesen, Hammond, Brown and Whitney, rounded out the top ten. Twenty cars started the feature. Seven cars finished.

Erik Miles picked up a top five finish.

Sportmod Feature Winner: Kevin Sustaire, No. 71k, picked up his second win of the evening. White, Drescher, Yates, Long, and Martin, rounded out the top ten. Twenty-three cars started the feature.

A spectator was hit by debris, but did not appear to be seriously hurt.

Ryan Gustin defeats Jason Hughes for USMTS Modified win at Heart O Texas Speedway

It was the second of three nights of racing at the 7th Annual Day Motor Sports Texas Spring Nationals at Heart O Texas Speedway. Fifty Modifieds attempted to qualify for the forty-five lap $3,000 to win feature. Ryan Gustin, No. 19r, who had a strong run last night to come in fourth, started on the front row along side Philip Houston, No. 71. Gustin quickly took the point and went on to lead every lap of the A-main. This was Ryan's second feature win of the season. Jason Hughes, No. 12, came close on several occasions, but had to settle for second. Zack VanderBeek, No. 33z, last nights feature winner, was third, Dereck Ramirez, No. 4r, was fourth and Cade Dillard, No. 97, was fifth. A. Arneson, S. Scott, Houston, J. Scott, and Kates, rounded out the top ten. Twenty-six cars started the feature.

It was great to see CAM Chassis Chase Allen back at the track.

Limited Modified Feature Winner: It took awhile to get this one started, but it turned out to be an exciting race. Gabe Tucker, No. 95, held off Wade Moyer, No. 14, who settled for second, Sid Kiphen, No. 58, was third, T.J. Green, No. 5, was fourth and Taylor Florio, No. 21, was fifth. C. Florio, Rawls, Garcia, Lackey, and Buzbee, rounded out the top ten. Twenty-one cars started the feature.

Zack VanderBeek zipped past Cade Dillard to take USMTS win at Heart O Texas Speedway

If the next two nights of racing at Heart O Texas Speedway are anything like Thursday nights USMTS Modified feature, race fans are in for a treat. Almost 50 Modifieds battled for the top 24 positions at the 7th Annual Day Motor Sports Texas Spring Nationals 40-lap A-main. Cade Dillard, No. 97, who started along side J.P. Dowell, No.13x, battled his way to the lead after a few laps. Dillard seem to have things well under control, but several cautions came out during the A-main. That allowed Zack VanderBeek, No. 33z, and Jason Hudges, No. 12, to fall in behind Dillard. VanderBeek and Dilliard went back and forth for a couple off laps, until Zack VanderBeek managed to slip past Dillard at the finish line on the last lap to take the $2,000 S&S Fishing & Rental feature win. This was Zack's 29th career win with the USMTS Modified series. Jason Hughes settled for third, Ryan Gustin, No. 19r, had a strong run to finish fourth and Austin Arneson, No. 10, finished fifth. Sobbing, Ramirez, J. Scott, Drake, and Dowell rounded out the top ten. Twenty-six cars started the feature.

2nd Annual Lonestar Sprint Smackdown

2nd Annual LONESTAR SPRINT SMACKDOWN *PLUS* 2016 LoneStar POINTS OPENER is now SAT. FEB. 13 at *5PM*!

*OPEN PRACTICE NIGHT FRIDAY, FEB. 12 from 6pm to 10pm* 

Kilgore, TX (2/8/16) by DarinShort.com. Now that the weather forecast for this coming Saturday's (Feb. 13) LoneStar Sprint Smackdown at LoneStar Speedway (LSS) is coming closer together, we are moving the entire previously posted schedule to ONE HOUR EARLIER - across the board.

Pits/registration now opens at 2pm, with Grandstands opening at 3:30pm, hot laps at 5pm and racing by 6pm (which coincides with the sun setting, 6:02pm)

The draw cutoff for heat races is now 4:15pm, with drivers meeting at 4:30pm. Race teams: please adjust you schedule accordingly, as we will be staying on schedule

The current forecasts shows DRY conditions for Saturday, February 13th, with temps at race times in the low 60's (which is a bit lower than forecasted last week). We are moving the schedule one hour earlier to make sure the fans get to enjoy the races - until the end - comfortably, and this earlier start time will help accomplish that.

The Sprint Car feature race will race no later than 2nd feature in running order.

This event is 2nd running of the LoneStar Sprint Smackdown, featuring $1,200 to win and $300 to start (24th) RaceSaver® IMCA Sprint Cars. There is no entry fee due from any of the competitors in any racing division on race night. 

The RaceSaver Sprint Cars will be awarded IMCA Weekly Racing, National and State points.

This will also be the first time the drivers get to race on the even wider LSS surface - which is now a minimum of 70' wide at any point around the 1/3 mile high-banked track.

There is an Open Practice at LoneStar this Friday night, Feb. 12 from 6pm-10pm. LSS points divisions can also register their cars at the open practice. All pit passes for all ages on 2/12 are $15 and there is no cost for fans to take in the practice for the grandstands.

The Sprint Cars are just one of the focus points of the event, as it is the LSS 2016 Championship Points opener as well, with jumped-up purses in the high-powered Modifieds ($1,200/win), Limited Modifieds ($600/win) and Factory Stocks ($400/win). Rounding out the 5-division racing card will be the first points race for the new Front Wheel Drive (FWD) 4-Cylinder division.

Adult (ages 12-64) tickets to the LoneStar Sprint Smackdown are just $15, while ages 6-11 are $5, and ages 65+/Active Military can take in the full night of racing for just $13. All pit passes for all ages are $35. 

Again, Hot laps February 13th now fire off at 5pm, with the Pits opening by 2pm and the Grandstands by 3:30pm. Draw Cut-Off at 4:15pm with the drivers Pit Meeting at 4:30pm. Drivers, please make sure to arrive on time so we can keep the show moving on schedule.

Driver registration for the LSS points divisions is required, and the $30 registration fee goes right back into the Drivers Point Fund - which has averaged over $10,000/year the past three years. Sprint Cars do not register.
