Kennedale Speedway Park kicked off their Annual Spring Show with a Friday night practice

Kennedale Speedway Park was all slicked up and race ready for Friday's practice. This was the first of three nights of racing for their Annual Spring Kick-off. A number of improvements had been made to the facility during the off season. The track looked smooth and tacky. Several race teams took advantage of the practice time to make final adjustments for Saturday's race. Gates open at 3 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m. Sunday gates open at noon. Racing starts at 2 p.m.

IMCA Lone Star Series: This is also the second stop for the IMCA Lone Star Series. The first event took place at Abilene Speedway last weekend. Current point leaders are: Josh McGaha, Modifieds; Justin Cass, SportMods; Jason Adcock, Stock Cars and Brock Beeter, Hobby Stocks. For more information, go to: www.imca.com

Doug Easterling makes it look easy with SportMod win at Abilene Speedway

A nice crowd was on hand for Abilene Speedway's annual Ice Breaker.

Abilene Speedway broke the ice Friday for the first of three nights of racing at their Annual Ice Breaker event. It was also the first event for the IMCA Lone Star series. A nice crowd and over 200 race teams were on hand to get the new racing season underway. Round two of Abilene Speedway's Annual Ice Breaker will be Saturday evening with racing starting at 7 p.m. and Sunday's finale starting at 1 p.m. Special thanks to Smileys Racing Products and Napa Auto Parts for their support.

Josh McGaha's Phoenix chassis 911 IMCA Modified.

IMCA Modified Winner: Abilene's own Josh McGaha, No. 911, started on the pole and looked to be in control of the race until Chris Elliott, No. 9, made an inside pass going into turn 1 with only a few laps to go. McGaha settled for second, Tyler Iverson, No. 98, was third, Keith White, No. 1, had a strong showing to finish fourth and Tommy Fain, GOD is Awesome No. 90, rounded out the top five. Close to 40 IMCA Modifieds completed for Friday's $600 first prize. Waiting on OFFICIAL results. It appears that Chris Elliott was DQ.

Doug Easterling was Friday nights IMCA SportMod feature winner. 

IMCA SportMod Feature Winner: Doug Easterling, No. 88, looks like he has the car to beat. Doug was pretty much in control the entire race. Coming in second with the hard charger award was Matt Mueller, No. 38. Rounding out the top five were Justin R. Case, No. 56, Allen Montgomery, No. 138, and G.W. Egbert No. 70.

Lots of race cars and beautiful weather at Kennedale Speedway Parks practice

A large number of racers were on hand for Sunday's practice.

Kennedale Speedway Park held there first of two practices Sunday. Over 100 race cars took advantage of the beautiful weather to make final adjustments for the Annual Kennedale Speedway Park Spring Kick Off to be held February 28-March 2. There were several new cars on hand including Dean Abbeys, No. 26, new IMCA Modified, Glen Hibbards, No. 127, new Modified and Brad Shirleys, No. 00, Extreme Graphics, new IMCA SportMod. Kennedale Speedway Parks next practice will be Friday, February, 28 for the Spring Kick Off.
