Ben Ketteman defeats John Gober in the Modified feature at 281 Speedway Speedfest

It was the Annual Speedfest at 281 Speedway in Stephenville, Texas.

It was the second of two nights for the Annual 281 Speedway Speedfest. Several area tracks were rained out this weekend, but 281 Speedway was able to get in full programs Saturday and Sunday.

Ben Ketteman was the IMCA Modified feature winner.

IMCA Modified Winner: Eighteen IMCA Modifieds started the feature. Ben Ketteman, No. 37, managed to hold off John Gober, No. 52, for the feature win. Joe Spillman, No. 444, was a close third, Randy Martin, No. 373, was fourth and David Davis, No. d02, was fifth.

Joe Spillman had a strong run to finish third.

IMCA SportMod Winner: In another close finish, "Extreme Graphics" Brad Shirley, No. 00, defeated Gabe Tucker, No. 95, to take the feature win. Devin Burgesses, No. 64, was third, James Holder, No. 99, was fourth and Jeff Reynolds, No. 40, was fifth.

IMCA Stock Car Winner: Gabe Tucker, No. 28, was the feature winner. Kirt Martin, No. 69, was second, Charles Cosper, No. 33c, was third, Matt Guillaume, No. 50, was fourth and Dennis Bissonette, No. 07d, was fifth.

Jr. Mini Stock Winner: Kamera McDonald, No. 62k, was the winner. Weston Abbey, No. 12, was second, Blake Clark, No. 88, was third.

Sport Compac Winner: Race was cancelled after Tiffany Lancaster, No. 41, was injured during the feature.

Tiffany was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Race track is a semi-banked, 1/4-mile, dirt oval.

It was a beautiful day to watch the races.

Veteran Varian Sisson survives Modified feature to win at Mountain Creek Speedway

Varian Sisson was the IMCA Modified feature winner.

Veteran Varian Sisson, No. 1, defeated a hard charging Sam Cox, No. 3c, for the IMCA Modified feature at Mountain Creek Speedway Friday night. David Davis, No. d02, was third, veteran Jimmy Littlejohn, No. 87, was fourth and Tommy Williams, No. 151, was fifth. Several cars dropped out of the race including William Gould, No. 60, Dillion Pike, No. 6, and Jack Sartain, No. 47. Twenty Modifieds started the 20-lap feature. 

Sam Cox, No. 3c, had a strong run in the feature.

Sprint Series of Texas Winner: "Hurricane" Rodney Henderson, No. 67, was the feature winner. Trevor Reed, No. 28, was second, Raven Culp, No. 3c, was third, Russell Shoulders, No. 29, was fourth and Danny Merrell, No. 41, was fifth.

Matt Etzelmiller was involved in a wreck during the feature.

The Annual Racers Reunion presented The Kurtis-Kraft Legacy comes to Texas

The annual Racers Reunion was recently held in Irving, Texas. This year’s event featured the Kurtis-Kraft Legacy comes to Texas with special guests Arlen & Carol Kurtis. Other special guests included Johnny Rutherford, Gordon Woolley, Bill White, Jim McElreath, Buddy Cagle and Ed Justice Jr. There was also alot of historical material on display, along with race cars, sport cars, car models and a banquet. If you are into racing history, this is an event you don't want to miss.

A beautifully restored 1949 Kurtis Sports Car.

There were several vintage race cars on display.

The stage was designed to look like the original Kurtis shop.

Alot of racing history was on hand for viewing.

Car models were new this year and there were many fine examples.

The banquet included a dinner, prizes and a guest speaker.

Spring, Texas Chris Brown, No. 21b, held off Jake Oneil, No. 0, for the $3,000 Modified feature prize at Texas Motor Speedway's Dirt Track Port-A-Cool U.S. National Dirt Track Championship. Corey Babbitt, No. 409, was third, William Gould, No. 60, was fourth and Philip Houston, No. 71, was fifth. Troy Taylor, No. 56, lost a drive shaft on the third lap and was done for the evening.

George White had a rough night. He wrecked his Mod and Sprint in the same location.

Limited Modified Winner: John Whittington, No. 5w, picked up his second feature win in-a-row. Local Sean Jones, No. 66m, was second, Bubba Seals, No. 119, was third, R.J. Stroman, No. 88x, was fourth and Robert Vetter, No. v8, was fifth.

Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Winner: Last year's winner and current ASCS Sprints points leader Jason Johnson, No. 41, defeated Johnny Herrera, No. 45x, in a close one. Seth Bergman, No. 23, was third, Aaron Reutzel, No. 87, was fourth and Brad Loyet, No. 05, was fifth. There were 46 Sprints in the pits.

Kevin Ramey was the ASCS Sprint feature winner at Kennedale Speedway Park

Kennedale Speedway Park's own Kevin Ramey, Print Place No. 7m, was the ASCS Sprint feature winner Saturday night. Starting on the pole, Kevin lead every lap of the 25-lap A-main for the $2,000 prize. The hard charger award goes to Johnny Herrera, No. 45x, who started fourteenth, but came in second, Matt Covington, No. 95, was third, Patrick Stasa, No. 19, was fourth and Blake Hahn, No. 17, was fifth. It was the Smiley's Racing Products Lone Star Region vs the American Bank of Oklahoma Sooner Region. Thirty-four ASCS Sprints competed for the 24 starting positions.

RaceSaver Sprint Winner: Chad Wilson, No. 20, picked up his second feature win in two nights. He won at Mountain Creek Speedway Friday night. Jeb Sessums, No. 01j, was second, John Ricketts, No. 5r, was third, Colby Estes, No. 71, Was fourth and Johnny Miller, No. 64j, was fifth.

In one of the closest finishes at Mounatin Creek Speedway Friday night, Ronny Welborne, No. 20, defeated John Gruber, No. 52, to take the IMCA Modified feature. Abilene's Tommy Fain, No. 90.5, was third, Dillion Pike, No. 6, was fourth and "Destroyer Chassis" Darryl Campbell, No. 83, was fifth. 

William Gould struggled with his Mod most of the evening.

Jimmy Littlejohn had electrical problems.

Chris Brown was the $4,000 David Pope Memorial Modified winner at RPM Speedway

David Pope would have been proud. A large crowd, close to 200 race cars in the pits made for a very special evening. It was the $27,000 2nd Annual David Pope Memorial race that was held at RPM Speedway Saturday night. David was a successful businessman and a East Texas racer that lost his life a few years ago. 

The top six drivers drew for positions.

Modified Winner: Chris Brown, No. 21, put it on cruise control to take the feature win. Cody Smith, No. 18s, was second, Clyde Dunn Jr., No. 88xxx, was third, Troy Taylor.No. 56, was fourth and Dennie Gieber, No. 8g, was fifth. Chris Brown also won the $540 Dash for Cash race in honor of David Pope's No. 54.

Clyde Dunn Jr. Motorsports had a strong showing.

Limited Modified Winner: Tommy Davis Jr., No. 17, was the feature winner. With this win, Tommy is the 2013 RPM Speedway Limited Modified Points Champion. Rounding out the top five was Dennie Gieber, No. 15w, was second, Billy Bierton, No. 43b, was third, Jimmy Day, No. 23m, was fourth and Brad Shirley, No. 00, was fifth.

G.W. Egbert wins Southern SportMod qualifier at Heart O' Texas Speedway Friday night

G.W. Egbert, No. 717, had the car to beat at the 9th Annual Heart O' Texas Southern SportMod Nationals Friday night. Over 40 Southern SportMods competed for the six spots that locked the drivers into the $3,000 to win A-main Saturday night. Coming in second was Jake UpChurch, No. 24, Dean Abbey, No. 26, was third, Jon White Jr., No. 8j, was fourth, Kevin Rutherford, No. 9x, was fifth and Chris Cogburn, No. 601, was sixth. These top six drivers are locked into tomorrow's feature race. 

Jake UpChurch had a strong run.
