Over 170 race cars compete at Kennedale Speedway Park's Memorial Show

Over 170 race cars competed at Kennedale Speedway Park's Memorial Show Saturday night. A good crowd was on hand to watch the races and the recent weather, that had forced several tracks to close, was not a problem. 

IMCA Modified Winner: Matt Martin, No. 11, looked like he was going to pickup the Modified win, but Jack Sartain, No. 47, slipped past him to take the $1,000 win. F. Wojtech, No. 441, was second, M. Martin, No. 11, settled for third, S. Cox, No. 3c, was fourth and J. Emerson, No. 35, was fifth. Twenty-four cars started the Mod feature.

RaceSaver Sprints Winner: Payton Pierce, No. 18p, was the feature winner. C.J. Duarte, No. 83, was second, J. Sessums, No. 01j, was third, J. Fifield, No. 49, was fourth and S. Mize, No. 12, was fifth. Twenty-three Sprints started the feature.

IMCA SportMod Winner: A tought battle between T. Lorenz, No. 84t and J. Pirkle, No. 411. Pirkle managed to muscle his way to the front and the win. J. UpChurch, No. 24, was third, D. Abbey, No. 26, was fourth and J. Kinnaird, No. 07, was fifth.

Rain wins out at area dirt tracks. SportMod Nationals canceled at Heart O' Texas Speedway

A good crowd was on hand at RPM Speedway despite the weather.

Several tracks were rained out. Here is the latest updates:

9th Annual Southern SportMods Nationals at Heart O' Texas Speedway has been canceled this weekend due to all the rain in the area. For the latest Nationals information, go to: www.heartotexspeedway.com

RPM Speedway managed to get in all of their heat races and the B-mains, except the final Limited Modified B Friday night, before the rains came. Despite the weather in the area, a good crowd was on hand for the O'Reilly Auto Parts fans night. It was shaping up to be a great night of racing with 136 race cars in the pits. The feature races will be added to future races.

William Gould defeats Glen Hibbard to take Modified feature at Kennedale Speedway Park

William Gould, No. 60, defeated Glen Hibbard, No. 127, in a close one at Kennedale Speedway Park Saturday night. Twenty-four IMCA Modifieds started the feature. A few laps into the A-main, William Gould worked his way past Jack Sartain, No. 47, to take the lead. Glen Hibbard was slowly working his way through the field and with one lap to go, Gould held off Hibbard by a car length to take the win. J. Sartain, No. 47, was third, Destroyer Chassis D. Campbell, No. 83, was fourth and M. Martin, No. 11, was fifth. T. Williams, No. 151, was sixth.

Raven Culp crowned Sprint Series of Texas winner at Boyd Raceway

Raven Culp was the SST Sprint feature winner.

Athough the weather looked threating, a large crowd was on hand to watch the races featuring Smiley Sitton's Sprint Series of Texas at Boyd Raceway Friday night. Twenty SST Sprints started the 20-lap feature. Kenny Venable, No. 59, worked his way to the front and appeared to have this one, but with two laps to go, he got into some lap traffic that allowed Raven Culp, No. 3, to pass him on the outside coming out of turn 2, to take the win. Dustin Woods, No. 00, was third. The next scheduled SST event is May 25 at Heart O' Texas Speedway in Waco.

Kenny Venable, No. 59, came in second.

Dustin Wood, No. 00, finished third.

IMCA Modified Winner: Last week's feature winner Eric Winnett, No. 21, worked his way to the front to take the IMCA Modified feature. William Gould, No. 60, was second, hard charger award to Sam Cox, No. 3, for third, Nicholas Littlejohn, No. 51, was fourth and Ralph King, No. 5, was fifth. Abilene's Tommy Fain, No. 90, was sixth.

IMCA SportMod Winner: Former champion Dean Abbey, No. 26, in a new car, took to the front for the win. Gabe Tucker, No. 95, was second, Extreme Graphics Brad Shirley, No. 00, was third, J.C. William Gould grinds out a Modified win at 85 Speedways IMCA Lone Star Series

85 Speedway (Ennis)
May 12 (Sunday)

Roger Archer's 85 Speedway hosted the seventh leg of the IMCA Lone Star Series Sunday night. There were three classes of cars, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Southern SportMods and Bombers, competing for points and price money. In the IMCA Modified feature, current IMCA Modified points leader William Gould, No. 60, looked like he was on his way to an easy win, when the race turned into a Modified Marathon.

Roy Caps car went off the back straight.

IMCA Modified Winner: It was a classic battle between William Gould, No. 60, and former IMCA Champion Keith White, No. 1. Keith actually passed William a couple of times, but a caution would come out and they would revert back to their starting positions. After the dust settled, William Gould managed to hold off Keith White for the win. J. Gober, No. 52, was third, B. Ketteman, No. 601, in Gould's backup car, was fourth and J. Spillman, No. 444, was fifth.

Several Modifieds were involved in a wreck during the feature.

IMCA SportMod Winner: G.W. Egbert, No. 717, was the feature winner. A. Hickham, No. 94, was second, G.Tucker, No. 95, was third, A McCall Jr., No. 7m, was fourth and J.Freeman, No. 21f, was fifth. Dean Abbey, No. 42, was DQ for rough driving.
