Johnny Rutherford among 2013 Wall of Fame inductees at Heart O' Texas Speedway

Three time Indianapolis 500 winner Johnny Rutherford, was one of ten new inductees into the Wall of Fame at Heart O' Texas Speedway recently. The other inductees were: Billy Jack Casper, James Taylor, Glenn Moon, Chuck Daniel, Gene Painter, Marion "Bubba" Webb, Bill Osborn, Donnie Rowe and Ray Kemp Sr.. A special thanks to all the sponsors and especially Tommy and Joe Armstrong.

Johnny Rutherford: Johnny started his racing career in the late 1950s racing at the old Heart O' Texas Speedway and other local tracks. In 1965 he won the USAC National Sprint Car Championship. He was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame in 1993, the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 1995 and the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in 1996.

Billy Jack Casper: Billy Jack raced for 21 years winning hundreds of feature events. One of his biggest wins was in 1966 at the Devil's Bowl Speedway at a national sprint car race. He had to start in the rear of the field, but went on to lap the professional IMCA drivers. Billy Jack was seriously injured at the Pan American Speedway in San Antonio and passed away a year later.

James Taylor: A successful motorcycle racer, James switched to race cars in 1961 at the Heart O' Texas Speedway. James career highlights are winning three 75-lap feature events from 1968-1970 and finishing runner up to Bill White in the Modified division in 1970.

Glenn Moon: Glenn started his racing career in a 1953 Ford. He raced at several North Texas tracks including Heart O' Texas Speedway where he won the 1977 Figure 8 Championship. Glenn switched to asphalt cars in the 80's. In 1987, he started racing in the ARCA Series. 

Chuck Daniel: Chuck joins his father, Tom, on the Wall of Fame. Chuck raced throughout Texas, winning four championships. 

Gene Painter: Gene started his racing career in 1961 at the old Heart O' Texas Speedway. He won over 100 feature races and has three track championships in his career. 

Marion "Bubba" Webb: Bubba Web started his racing career in the early 1950s at the old Suicide Bowl while he was on leave from the service. Bubba's career highlights include setting the Heart O' Texas Speedway record of 18 seconds and flipping seven times at Heart O' Texas Speedway.

Bill Osborn: Bill started his racing career at Heart O' Texas Speedway. Bill won more than 50 features in his career and his most memorable moment was winning the 1963 Mid-Season Championship. 

Donnie Rowe: Donnie began his racing career in 1962 and he raced for 13 years. Donnie won the 1962 Good Sportsmanship Award and the 1965 Most Popular Driver at Heart O' Texas Speedway. 

Ray Kemp Sr.: Ray started his career at the age of 16 at the old Heart O' Texas Speedway. In his career he had over 100 feature wins and was runner up 12 times.

J.P. Dowell, No. 95k, mentioned that he had not been to Heart O' Texas Speedway very often. Maybe he should. After he took the lead, about half way throught the 25-lap feature, there was no catching him. He ran away from the field. The real race was for second between Keith Green, No. 5, Keith White, No. 1, and William Gould, No. 60. They swapped positions, but eventually settled on that order. Jarrod Jennings, No. 98j, was fifth. There were 19 modifieds in the feature.

Not a Gould weekend: William Gould, No. 60, the current IMCA Lone Star Series Modified points leader, wrecked Saturday night at Kennedale Speedway Park. They worked all night to get the car ready for Heart O' Texas Speedway Sunday night. In the heat race he blew his engine. In less than an hour Gould was up and running again. Starting on the rear, he ended up fourth in the feature. Gould deserved a hard charger award.

Wall of Fame: Heart O' Texas Speedway inducted ten new members into the Wall of Fame. The ten inductees were:  Johnny Rutherford, Billy Jack Casper, Chuck Daniel, James Taylor, Glenn Moon, Gene Painter, Bubba Webb, Bill Osburn, Donnie Rowe and Ray Kemp.

Darryl Campbell IMCA Modified feature winner at Kennedale Speedway Park

Last weeks IMCA Modified feature winner William Gould, No. 60, wrecked on the first lap at Kennedale Speedway Park Saturday night. Chris Brag, No. 24b, who started on the pole, jumped out to the lead. Chris looked like he had the win in the bag until he spun out on the last lap going into turn 2. Veteran Darryl Campbell, No. 83, assumed the top position and held off Mike Hathcock, No. 03, to pickup his first feature win of the season. A hard charging Glen Hebbard, No. 127, was third, Matt Martin, No. 11, was fourth and Jay Bransom, No. 29, was fifth. There were 26 IMCA Modifieds that started the feature.

Johnny Scott wins round 2 of the USMTS Modified series at Kennedale Speedway Park

Johnny Scott, No. 1st, from Arroyo Hondo, NM, won the second night of three nights of the 4s Motorsports Red River Rumble by Lecolift at Kennedale Speedway Park. Chris Brown, No. 21, was the feature winner at Texas Thunder Speedway in Killeen, TX, Friday night. Over 40 USMTS Modifieds battled it out for the 26 starting positions in the 40-lap A-main at KSP. Steve Whiteaker Jr., No. 89, from Corpus Christi, TX, started on the pole and quickly took the early lead. About half way through the race, local Clyde Dunn Jr., No. 88xxx, passed Whiteaker to take the lead and shortly afterward Whiteaker dropped out with mechanical problems. Johnny Scott, who had been working his way towards the front, passed Dunn on the inside in turn 2 with about ten laps to go and there was not stopping him as he went on to take the $2,000 first prize. A hard charging Rodney Sanders, No. 20, settled for second, J.P. Dowell, No. 715, was third, Clyde Dunn Jr., No. 88xxx, was fourth and Jason Hughes, No. 12, was fifth. The AllGayer, Inc. Southern Region presented by Day Motor Sports USMTS Modifieds tour continues Saturday night at Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Armore, OKLA. This was the first time that the USMTS Modifieds had been to Kennedale Speedway Park.

281 Speedway in Stephenville opened their season with their annual Spring Fling. Sunday was the finale of two nights of racing. A good field of cars were in the pits along with a nice crowd. 281 Speedway's next big event is July 20-21.

IMCA Modified Winner: Nineteen IMCA Modifieds started the A-main. Abilene's Josh McGaha, No. 911, muscled his way to the front getting by a strong run by William McGuire, No. 9. Chris Bragg, No. 24b, was third, David Davis, No. d02, was fourth and Justin Radcliff, No. 11j, was fifth. Melton, No. 71, was sixth, No. 4s, was seventh, Spillman, No. 444, was eight and No. 37, was ninth. William Gould, No. 60, DNF.

William Gould wins his second Modified feature in-a-row at Kennedale Speedway Park

William Gould, No. 60, is on a roll. Fresh off a win at Heart O' Texas Speedway in Waco Friday night, Gould picked up his second IMCA Modified feature win in-a-row at Kennedale Speedway Park Saturday night. It wasn't easy, Jeff Emerson, No. 35, started on the pole and seem to be running away with this one. But after several cautions, William Gould had worked his way up to second and with a few laps to go in the A-main, Gould passed Jeff for the win. Glen Hibbard, No. 127, a feature winner two weeks ago, settled for third. Jeremy Willis, No. 010, was fourth and Tommy Fain, No. 90.5, was fifth. There were 26 IMCA Modifieds that started the feature.

RaceSaver Sprints Winner: Jason Howell, No. 44, had one of his best showings lately with a strong second place finish in the RaceSaver Sprints feature. Jeff Day, No. 95, battled Chase Brewer, No. 99, for the win. Brewer ended up third, Raven Culp, No. 3, was fourth and Dustin Woods, No. 55, was fifth.

Heart O' Texas Speedway drivers and fans honor the fallen firefighters from West

It was a very special night at Heart O' Texas Speedway. Not only were the ASCS Sprints there for the Battle on the Brazos, along with a full racing program, but the track, fans and drivers also honored the victims of an explosion in West. Thanks to the race fans, Heart O' Texas Speedway collected $5,000 for the city of West. Several drivers also donated their winnings.

Griffith Truck and Equipment Gulf Region ASCS Feature Winner: Current National ASCS Sprints leader, Jason Johnson, No. 41, started on the pole and quickly took the lead. Jason held off all challengers to take the $2,500 prize in the Life Partners Inc., Duel on the Brazos, 25-lap main event. Johnny Herrera, No. 45x, was second, Cole Wood, No. 17, was third, Christopher Bell, No. 31b, was fourth and Ray Allen Kulhanek, No. 21t, was fifth. There were a total of 41 Sprints. Local Kevin Ramey, No. 7m, won his b-main, but was DQ.
