William Gould takes the gold for the second time with Modified win at Kennedale Speedway Park

For the second time in two weeks, William Gould, No. 60, took the IMCA Modified feature at Kennedale Speedway Park. A large crowd was on hand, as well as a large number of race cars in the pits, to watch the races. Chase Jupe, No. 303, worked his way up to second, Tommy Williams, No. 151, was third, Jay Bransom, No. 29, who was involved in a bad wreck last week, was fourth and Jeremy Willis, No. 010, was fifth.

Dalton Steed was the IMCA Sprints feature winner.

IMCA Sprints Winner: Dalton Steed, No. 26, started on the front row and quickly jumped out to a good lead. For the second night in-a-row, Jeb Sessums, No. 01j, ended up in second. He came in second at Mountain Creek Speedway Friday night. Chad Wilson, No. 20, was third, Jason Howell, No. 44, was fourth and Martin Edwards, No. 45, was fifth.

Dean Abbey was the IMCA SportMods feature winner.

IMCA SportMods Winner: Dean Abbey, No. 26, was the IMCA SportMods feature winner. Michael Newhart, No. 14n, was second, Duain Pritchett, No. 22, was third, Gary Fox, No. 12w, was fourth and George Gafford, No. 70, was fifth.

Kirk Martin was the IMCA Stock cars fetaure winner.

IMCA Stock Cars Winner: Kirk Martin, No. 69, was the IMCA Stock Cars feature winner. Matt Guillaume, No. 50, was second, Ronnie Welborn, No. 20, was third, Duain Pritchett, No. 22, was fourth and J.C. Howell, No. 103, was fifth.

Street Stocks Winner: Jake UpChurch, No. 24, coming off a win at Mountain Creek Speedway Friday night, ran away with the Street Stocks feature. Gary Nabors, No. 95, was second, Lance Hanson Jr., No. 5h, was third, Chris Clark, No. 47a, was fourth and Ryan powers, No. r12, was fifth.

Chase Allen defeats Sam Cox to take the Modified season opener at Mountain Creek Speedway

Chase Allen, No. 5k, held off Sam Cox, No. 3c, to take the IMCA Modified feature season opener at Mountain Creek Speedway Friday night. Tommy Williams, No. 151, was third, David Davis, D02, was fourth and William McGuire, No. 9, was fifth.

This was Mountain Creek Speedway's March Breakout Lets Go Race Showdown. The first 40 kids coming through the gate received a free Easter basket. Next Friday starts trhe season points with a regular program plus the 362 Crate Models.

For the second time this season at Kennedale Speedway Park, just as the RaceSaver Sprint cars entered the track, it started to rain. That was unfortunate for the fans and the drivers, because with over 130 cars in the pits, it was shaping up to be a great night of racing at KSP. 

I mentioned a few weeks ago the races were rained out. Saturday night Kennedale Speedway Park decided to make up the IMCA Modified race as well as their regular program that included the RaceSaver Sprints.

In the IMCA Modified feature, local Matt Martin, No. 11, jumped out to an early lead. A few laps into the race, Jay Bransom, No. 29, who was running in second place, hit Tommy Fain, No. 90, and flipped after hitting the wall coming out of turn 4. Willam Gould, No. 60, who had worked his way through the pack, took over the lead. The hard charger award went to "Downtown" Scotty Brown, No. 44, who took over the second spot. Chase Jupe, No. 303, who came in second at Heart O' Texas Speedway Friday night, settled for third, Matt Martin, No. 11, was fourth and Damon Hammond, No. 116, was fifth.

No. 5 took a wild ride on the back straight-a-way.

Jay Bransom, No. 29, was involved in a bad wreck.

Ryan Powers was the Street Stocks feature winner.

Ryan Powers was really "Flyin" in the Street Stocks feature. He had it on cruise control in taking the win. David Cook, No. 32, was second, Chris Clark, No. 47a, was third, John Herring, No. $100, was fourth and No. 95, was fifth.

Kyle Bellm takes round 1 of the Annual Spring Nationals at the Devils Bowl Speedway

March 22 (Friday)

Nixa, MO, Kyle Bellm, No. 14k, took round 1 of the 40th Annual Spring Nationals Matt Clevenger Memorial at the historic Devils Bowl Friday night. There were 47 Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV Outlaw Sprints in the pits. Local Sean Peterson, No. 4x, started from the pole position. Christopher Bell, No. 31b, started along side Sean and quickly took the lead in the 25-lap feature. Christopher appeared to be well on his way, but at lap 21, he had mechanical problems and went to the pits. Kyle took over the lead and went on to win the A-Main qualiflier. Sean Peterson, No. 4x, got his highest ASCS Sprints finish with a second, Sean McClellard, No. 17, was third, Joe Wood Jr, was fourth and Travis Rilat, No. 29t, was fifth.

The Devils Bowl's Spring National's finale will be this Saturday. Along with the ASCS Sprints, the event will also include the Late models and the USA Limited Modifieds.

It was a special night for Kyle Bellm and his friends.

The Smiley's Racing Products ASCS Lone Star Region Sprints rolled into Kennedale Speedway Park Saturday night. KSP's new promoter Kevin Ramey, the 2009 Smiley's Racing Products Lone Star Region champion, had made several improvements to the 1/4-mile, clay, oval track. It was the first time in several years that the ASCS Sprints had been to KSP. 

In the ASCS Sprints feature, Koby Barksdale, No. 22, started from the pole position and quickly jumped out to a good lead. Six laps into the 25-lap feature, Koby seemed to have the race well in hand, until he ran into some lap traffic and flipped entering turn 1. That opened the door for Seth Bergman, No. 23, to take the lead and he went on to take the feature win. Kevin Ramey, No. 7m, was second, Matt Covington, No.95, the defending LSR champion, was third, Justin Melton, No. 11, was fourth and Brad Welborn, No. 17w, was fifth. There were a total of 37 Sprints.

Chase Jupe was the IMCA Modified feature winner. 

IMCA Modified Feature: In one of the best races of the evening, Boyd Raceway's Friday night winner, Sam Cox, No. 3c, took the early lead. Tommy Williams, No. 151, and Damon Hammond, No. 116, both had strong runs with Chase Jupe, No. 303, and William Gould, No. 60, working their way up through the pack. Jupe was eventually able to catch and pass Sam Cox. Then it became a battle between Chase Jupe and Oklahoma's William Gould. When the checked flag dropped, Jupe had managed to cross the finish line in front of Gould. Tommy Williams, No. 151. was third, Damond Hammond, No. 116, was fourth and Tommy Fain, No. 90, was fifth.

William Gould had to settle for second place.

Steve Rutherford, No. 95 and Kenneth McGowan, No. 86, were involved in a bad crash.

Ronnie Welborn was the IMCA SportMods feature winner.

IMCA SportMods Feature: It was a crazy race that saw Dean Abbey, KSP's 2012 champion, take the early lead. Then Jacob Pirkle, No. 411, caught and passed Abbey, only to loose power on the last lap coming out of turn 4 allowing Ronnie Welborn, No. 20, to take the win. Jacob Pirkle, No. 411, coasted to second, Kevin Rutherford, No. 9, was third, Brad Shirley, No. 00, was fourth and Cody Shoemaker, No. 54, was fifth.

Brad Shirley "Extreme Graphics" had a strong showing.

Duain Pritchett was the IMCA IStock feature winner.

IMCA Stock Cars Feature: It was good to see Duain Pritchett, No. 22, back in the winner's circle. Tyler Muirhead, No. 22t, was second, Doogie hauser, No. 81, was third, Matt Guillaume, No. 50, was fourth and Sean Woofford, No. 27, was fifth.

Street Stocks Feature: David Cook, No. 32, was the feature winner. Dennis Kent, No. 47a, was second, Gry Neighbors, No. 95, was third, Jake UpChurch, No. 24, was fourth and Shawn Byrd, No. 69, was fifth.

Factory Stocks Feature: Frank Lackey, No. 41, was the winner. Johnny Lowey, No. 46, was second, Doug Kahanek, II, No. 2, was third, Tracy Baker, No. 22, was fourth and Kenny Smitherman, No. 42, was fifth. A good field of Factory Stocks with over twenty cars in the pits.

A large crowd was on hand to view the races.

Rodney Sanders was a $4,000 USMTS Modifieds feature winner at RPM Speedway Friday night

A capacity crowd was on hand to welcome the United States Modifieds Touring Series for the inaugural Honeycutt Sand & Gravel Modified Nationals at RPM Speedway Friday night. There were over fifty Modifieds in the pits that competed for the twenty-six starting positions in the Allgayer Inc. A-Main. "Rocket" Rodney Sanders, No. 20, fresh off a feature win at the Texas World Dirt Track Championships at Texas Motor Speedway a few weeks ago, drew the pole position. Rodney quickly jumped out to the lead in the 40-lap feature. There were a number of cautions and several cars managed to get close, but Rodney held them off to take the feature win. Rodney was one happy racer. He was the only one in the top eight to take the Big Dog Buy-in. For $100 the feature win would pay an extra $2,000 for a total of $4,000. Coming in a hard fought second, was Watts, Okla., Jason Hughes, No. 12, Tyler Townsend, No. 12t, was third, Kevin Sustaire, No. 71k, was fourth and current points leader Ryan Gustin, No. 19r, was fifth.

The USMTS Modifieds travel to Ark-La-Tex Speedway in Vivian, La., Saturday.

Bobby Morphis, No. 8b, was the Factory Stocks winner. Kevin Meyer, No.1, was second, Brian Marusak, No. XLV, was third, Tommy Crawford, No. 2, was fourth and Eric Sanderson, No. 163, was fifth. Another good field of Factory Stocks with close to forty cars in the pits.
