Trey Marcham ASCS2 Non-Wing Mini Sprints winner at Cowtown Crown

In one of the more exciting races of the evening, Trey Marcham, No. 32, defeated Cowtown Speedway's own Chipper Wood, No. 47, and Caleb Martin, No. 51m, to win the ASCS2 Non-Wing Mini Sprints feature at the Cowtown Crown Saturday night. This was Round 2 of the Crown and was worth $1,000 to Mr. Marcham. 

Payton "Wild Thing" Williams took a tumble down the back stretch.

Harley White was the ASCS2 Outlaw Mini Sprints feature winner.

Harley White, No. 17w, mentioned that she liked to race at Cowtown Speedway because the last time she was here, she was the feature winner also. In the ASCS2 Outlaw Mini Sprint's feature, Miss White quickly took the lead and held off Blake Hahn, No. 52, to take the $1,000 win. The hard charger award goes to Tyson Hall, No. 5x, who took the third place position.

Chance Morton was the Restrictor Mini Sprints feature winner.

Chance Morton, No. 7m, defeated Christian Kinneson, #82, to take the $500 feature win in the Restrictor Mini Sprints. Dyan Fox, No. 27f, came in third.

Shane Killingsworth was the USRA Modifieds feature winner.

Chase Allen, No. 30, gave Shane Killingsworth, No. 45x, all he could handle in the USRA Modifieds feature, but Shane held on for the win. "Little Freaky" Clyde Dunn Jr. came in third.

David Ferguson was the Limited Modifieds feature winner.

David Ferguson, No. 164, defeated Jake UpChurch, No. 124, to take the Limited Modifieds feature. Bret Young, No. 69, was third.

Brandon Anderson, No. 55, was the Jr. Sprints feature winner.

Jack Sartain declared Modifieds feature winner at Mountain Creek Speedway

Modifieds heat racing action Friday night.

   It was good to see dirt track racing in Grand Prairie again. The remodeled Mountain Creek Speedway held their 1st Annual Race On Dirt. Friday night was qualifying for the Modifieds, SportMods, Street Stocks and Bombers. Sam Cox, No.3c, was the Modifieds qualifier winner. In the SportMods qualifiers, veterans Eddie Prator, No. 4, and Troy Taylor, No. 56, were your winners. Dan Day, No. 54, won the Street Stocks qualifier and Brian McHenery, No. 05, won the Bomber qualifier. In the Mini Sprints feature Ruben Brussard, No. 51, was the winner.

Sam Cox's Modified was declared illegal.

   In Saturday's feature races, Sam Cox, No. 3c, was your Modifieds winner. Unfortunately a decision was made later that his car was not legal and was DQ'ed. Jack Sartain, No. 47, was declared the $1,500 winner with Scotty Brown, No. 44, coming in second and Ronnie Sigman, No. 15, coming in third. In the SportMods feature, Troy Taylor, No. 56, continued his winning ways. Tommy Davis Jr., No. 17, was second and Jared Webb, No. 43, was third. Tommy Davis Jr., 17d, was the Street Stocks feature winner. Clint Frideley, No. 08, was second and Walter Hamilton, No. 1w, was third. Brian McHenry, No. 05, was the Bombers feature winner with David Newton, No. 54, second and Johnny Lowey, No. 46, third. 

Troy Taylor was the SportMods feature winner.

Kyle Busch fined and put on probation by NASCAR

Kyle Busch didn't run in the Nationwide Series or Sprint Cup races on Saturday or Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway because of his actions during the truck race on Friday night.

NASCAR handed down additional penalties to Busch on Monday, including a $50,000 fine and placing him on NASCAR probation until the end of the year.

On Friday night, Busch intentionally wrecked Ron Hornaday under caution of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series WinStar World Casino 350k. Hornaday entered the race in championship contention, but Busch put an end to those.

NASCAR parked Busch for the remainer of the truck race, and then parked him for the weekend's races, as well.

NASCAR released a statement saying Busch violated Section 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) of the 2011 NASCAR Rule Book.

In issuing Monday's penalty, NASCAR went on to say that "if during the remaining NASCAR events in 2011 there is another action by the competitor that is deemed by NASCAR officials as detrimental to stock car racing or to NASCAR, or is disruptive to the orderly conduct of an event, the competitor will be suspended indefinitely from NASCAR."

Bayne wins O'Reilly Auto Parts Challenge

Trevor Bayne finished strong in the final laps, and took the checkered flag in Saturday's NASCAR Nationwide Series O'Reilly Auto Parts Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway.

It's Bayne's first Nationwide victory. As it just so happened, Bayne made his Sprint Cup debut at TMS last year. He won the Daytona 500 earlier this season, too.

Denny Hamlin, driving for the parked Kyle Busch, finished second.

Nationwide Series points leader Ricky Stenhouse Jr. finished eighth, maintaining his lead.

O'Reilly Auto Parts Challenge -- Midrace update

Through 66 laps of the 200-lap O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge, Carl Edwards is in the lead. Clint Bowyer is second, and Sam Hornish Jr. is third.

NASCAR Nationwide Series points leader Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is currently fifth. Elliott Sadler, second in points and the pole sitter, is in eighth.

Danica Patrick glad to be back in race car for first time since Wheldon death

Danica Patrick said she is glad to be getting back into a race car for the first time since the death of Dan Wheldon three weeks ago.

“It’s going to be nice to be able to get in the car,” she said Friday at Texas Motor Speedway, where she will run in a NASCAR Nationwide Series race on Saturday. “It was really nice to just have a couple of weeks off. It created some space from that weekend and those emotions.”

Wheldon died in a 15-car crash in the IZOD IndyCar Series finale on Oct. 16 at Las Vegas. Two hours later, when the drivers learned of Wheldon’s death, they decided not to continue the race and instead ran a five-lap tribute at the suggestion of IndyCar Series president Randy Bernard.

“At the drivers meeting, after we were told about Dan, we were having all kinds of conversations about how to continue, about two- and three-wide racing and trying to restrict things, and it was a very complicated conversation,” Patrick said. “Randy came in and said, ‘You guys can’t think straight. You’re going to go out, do a five-lap tribute, and we’re not going to run today.’ It was probably true. We couldn’t think straight. It was emotional, but it was nice to do.”

Jimmie Johnson vs. Eddie Gossage

Jimmie Johnson has a new video game out titled: "Anything With An Engine." The concept is similar to that of "Mario Kart" in which drivers run through courses with different bonuses throughout the race.

But Johnson brought his game to reality on Friday afternoon. He raced Texas Motor Speedway president Eddie Gossage, and here's how it went down. Johnson raced a motorized bar stool, while Gossage rode in a motorized recliner.

Truck points leader Dillon announces full-time move to Nationwide in 2012

Austin Dillon, the points leader in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, is headed for a full-time schedule in the NASCAR Nationwide Series next year.

It's a promotion in series for the fast-rising 21-year-old driver from Clemmons, N.C., a grandson of Richard Childress. Dillon is finishing his second year in the Truck Series, driving for Richard Childress Racing. He's won twice this year, and he'll start second in Friday night's WinStar World Casino 350k at Texas Motor Speedway.

"Hopefully, we can finish off these last two races and win a championship and go to the next level," Dillon said.

Dillon leads the Truck Series standings by 11 points over James Buescher, who starts on the pole tonight. Dillon starts second.
