The stands were packed for the Life Partners Inc. Duel on the Brazos at Heart O' Texas Speedway Friday night. Thirty-six Smiley's Racing Products ASCS Gulf South Sprints competed for the $3,000 to win first prize in the 30-lap feature at the banked 1/4-mile clay oval. Twenty Sprints started the A-main with Brandon Berryman, #31, on the pole. Brandon quickly took the lead with a hard charging Jason Johnson, #41, last week's feature winner at the Devil's Bowl Speedway Spring Nationals, right on his tail. Several laps into the race, it looked like Jason would pass Berryman, but he lost control going into turn two and had to go to the rear of the field. On the restart, Berryman regained the lead and was trying to hold off several cars including Channin Tankersley, #71. Channin was really coming on strong until he clipped the rear of a Sprint on the front stretch and crashed. With three laps to go, Aaron Reutzel, #87, passed Berryman to take the feature win. George White, #10, was third and Jason Johnson, #41, had worked his way up to fourth.
