After a strong showing by driver Tomas Scheckter at the Indy 500, Luczo-Dragon Racing has added the Texas and Chicagoland races to its previously announced three-race IndyCar schedule this season. The team, co-owned by Steve Luczo and Jay Penske, could add more races this season, pending sponsorship.
Scheckter ran in the top five most of the Indy 500 and was running third with 44 laps remaining when a broken driveshaft ended his day. The team is skipping this Sunday's race at Milwaukee but will be at Texas Motor Speedway for the Bombardier Learjet 550k on June 7. In eight career starts at TMS, Scheckter has posted one victory (2005) and two top-10 finishes. Scheckter holds the record for most IndyCar poles at TMS with three and ranks second in most laps led with 371. Read more here.
Also, John Andretti will make his first IndyCar start at TMS on June 7. Andretti, who advanced five positions to finish 16th in the Indy 500, will remain in the No. 24 Roth Racing car for the ABC Supply/A.J. Foyt 225 at The Milwaukee Mile this weekend and then the Bombardier Learjet 550k at TMS. Andretti has made eight NASCAR Sprint Cup starts at Texas, with a best finish of 12th.
